AT&T is Trying to Sweep Its 5G E Lies Under The Carpet

With all the trash about AT&T's fake 5G Evolution network all over the news, it is possible to not to remember that AT&T is really building a standards-based 5G network. Fortunately, the cellular organization has taken it upon itself to remind the entire public about a new fact sheet that curiously forgets to mention its 5G Evolution network — almost like it is not a real 5G network!

This fact sheet is a decent (if slightly AT&T-biased) look at the carrier’s job in actual 5G development. And information, like which cities it’s available in and the devices the company has announced, seem genuinely useful. You can certainly give an objection over some of the milestones — was AT&T actually “the first to make mobile 5G a reality in the United States” if it only did run a limited test that customers couldn’t buy access to? — it's all legitimate information on the organization’s 5G plans.

What makes the absence of the company's faux 5G network even more curious — after all, if AT&T really did view its new 5G Evolution network as some sort of integral component of its 5G network, the company would surely have mentioned it somewhere in its list of 5G landmarks. Or perhaps a mention under its 5G demos and tests.

It is certainly not there because 5G Evolution isn’t really 5G, and with the recent release here, it looks like AT&T is trying to sweep that entire experience under the carpet as it gears up for its real 5G launch in months to come.
